A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT ME AND WHERE I AM FROM

Well, here I will tell you a little bit about me. I have lived in the Brooks Alberta Canada Area for 30 years and this is where I got my start as a serious fisherman. Many people have a negative opinion of Brooks, personally, I still love it. It certainly isn’t the town that I moved to so many years ago; it is bigger, more diverse and now has a few big city problems in a small city package. Problems are problems anywhere you go, I live on a small acreage with my family, that includes my wife and son, a cat, two dogs, and a whole bunch of projects that I am working on, but my wife says I’ll never finish any of them.

I grew up living near where I live now, I went to school in Brooks when I was young and then in Duchess later. I eventually graduated from Duchess School. I thought about leaving the County Of Newell to pursue great things and go to school and be a lawyer or a doctor and such. Then I came to my senses and realized that I wouldn’t want to leave the place I had called home for so long.

I found a good job in the oilfield and worked day in and day out. The patch was in its prime and 16 hour days 50 weeks out of the year. Money was great, but I had an ultimate goal, Four Wheel Drive Vehicles were it. I was working to open up a 4x4 shop. So after 8 years of working the Alberta Oilfield I opened my shop. I did a little bit of everything because you sort of had to so your name got out there. I built 4x4 vehicles and installed accessories until the economy slowed. I didn’t know weather or not I would make it through a recession so I got out while I was still ahead.

After taking up welding and realizing that it was fun when I was building 4x4’s but not when I was laying under a skid for 10 hours per day I got out of that industry. And boy am I glad, all my friends that are still welding now have a lot of health problems.

In around 1995 I went small time farming, after a few years an injury forced me to stop that, now I just do some of this and some of that, wander around my acreage, fish a lot and have fun.

That is really all I have to say about me.

Live life for now, don’t get stuck doing something you don’t want to do, take risks when you can – not when you have to.

I have a fellow that I met running this web site for me, I am doing the articles and reviews and so on and so forth. We comunicate regularily. If you see any problems such as links that don't work, big spelling errors, and anything else just email me please and I will forward the message to him to fix. He tries to get me to "edit" what he writes for errors and everything, but sometimes, I just don't catch them all.
