We Canadians are dedicated to conservation of our natural resources. Please do your part to help us keep our country great.

There are countless conservation organizations in Canada. Most of these organizations have a specific aspect of conservation that they focus on.

Others have more widespread views on conservation. Some are focused on birds and or fish, others on protecting land and natural wildlife habitats.

Most all of these organizations are extremely important in maintaining a balance between recreational uses and the natural balance that needs to be sustained to keep nature as it is intended, and still enjoy its bounty.

In Canada conservation has two starting points, the firts being me, you and every other citizen, the other starting point is the Canadian government and Environment Canada. As conservation efforts from us and the government go to work and start to make a difference they will hopefully produce a happy balance between respecting and enjoying all that nature has to offer and still being able to operate industries and use the natural resources for other things as well.

There are a number of Canada wide conservation organizations that I am aware of.

The one that is making a big difference in the sport of fishing itself is the Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation. The Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation is a federal and provincially funded program to promote sportfishing in Canada. The message that the foundation is trying to get out is that "Recreational fishing is an excellent outdoor activity that fosters family values and can assist children in their emotional and social development" and that is something that I truly believe and will stand by until the day I die.

I know that fishing is great for my family and many of my friends families. They are also the ones behind national fishing week every year.

The other Canada wide conservation organization I know about and support every chance that I get is Trout Unlimited Canada (TUC). TUC has chapters in almost every province and territory in Canada there headquaters are located in Calgary Alberta. TUC's goal is to protect, preserve and restore Canada's cold water ecosystems.

TUC has over 4000 members across the country and uses the funds they raise to do great things in protecting our freshwater fish habitats. One of there most popular programs is the yellow fish road program wich focuses on urban drainage systems and keeping run off as unpoluted as possible.

If you are interested in conservation, Trout Unlimited Canada is an organization you can't go wrong with.
