Kinbrooks Island Park - Day Use Area
The County of Newell is located in South Central Alberta. It is bordered by the Bow River in the southwest and the Red Deer River in the North and East.
There are many great resevoirs for fishingand boating. There are a few decent campgrounds in the area and a number of tourist attractions that may interest you.

The County of Newell's economic base is agriculture and oil and gas.
There are roughly 290 000 acres of irrigated farmland and 950 000 acres of native grassland within the County. Most is used to grow crops or as pasture land for cattle.
Dotting the million acres of land in the County of Newell are about 35 000 oil and gas wells.
Lakeside Packers
- one of Canada's largest beef processing facilities is also located just outside of Brooks. lakeside employs 2200 people within it's opperations.
Here in the County of Newell we also boast two unesco world herritage sites;
-Dinosaur Provincial Park
-The Brooks Aqueduct

-The Bassano Dam
-The Brooks and District Museum
The county is home to roughly 30 000 people. The population is spread out between the City of Brooks, Duchess, Rosemary, Bassano, Tilley, Patricia, Rolling Hills, Scandia and Rainier.
Wihin the county there are many great fishing opportunities in the various rivers reservoirs and canals scattered throughout the area.

Considering there are under one thousand waterbodies in the entire province, our little portion is doing pretty good for great fishing opportunities.
Crawling Valley Reservoir has been featured in two angling television shows on walleye that I am aware of; Fishing Alberta and The Dimestore Fisherman. Lake Newel has been featured for both walleye and its great pike fishing on numerous TV shows as well.
In the fall hunters from all over the world come to the area for its great hunting opportunities from the canada goose to the trophy whitetails and antelope that are spotted regularilly.

Despite many of the areas residents not knowing how lucky we are to be living in such a diverse and fun area. It truly is a great place to be from.
