Fishing for beginners can sometimes seem like a never ending battle against an enemy that you can't see..

Fishing For Beginners....where do I begin, I guess I will start out by giving you an understanding of some of the basic setups for various common types of fish.

Most people start out fishing with a fairly basic and inexpensive setup consisting of a fishing rod, reel, fishing line and an assortment of fishing tackle.

You can buy a fishing rod and reel combo if you like they are usually a great price and you can find them most anywhere that sells fishing equipment.

As far as fishing equipment goes it really depends on what fish are in your local waters.

If you are going after small yellow perch or trout, 4 lbs test monofilament will do. For Large Bass, 8 - 12 lbs test is a must and for Walleye, Northern Pike, Musky you need to have 12 lbs test up to 40 lbs test.

Rods are more complex to pick, you have to base your decision on what fish are in the water, the strength of the angler and the types of fishing tackle you plan on using most of the time.

Over all, you can make do and catch any type of sport fish with any type of rod and real combo. Also any fish may take any lure at any given time, but to have real angling success you must learn a few things along the way and taylor your setup to the fish you are going to catch AND the lures that you plan on using. The water your fishing in has a thing or two to do with your gear decisions as well, so as you read through this informative website hopefully you will pick up a few things that can help you out along the way.

Hopefully this fishing for beginners article helps.
