The Western Canadian Fly Fishing Exposition Is A Great Yearly Event For Both The Amature and Professional Fly Fisherman Alike
The Western Canadian Fly Fishing Exposition (WCFFE) will once again be held at spruce meadows in Calgary Alberta Jan 28-30 2011. The 9th annual event draws in people from all over Canada and from places in the United States.
It looks like 2011 will be another great year for the show. As always there are a ton of activities with workshops and demonstrations taking place throughout the weekend.
This year there will be presentations by Jim McLennan, Phil Rowley, Jeremy Davies, Chris Seipio, Pudge Kleinkauf and more.
There will be over 75 exhibitors setup in the Spruce Meadows Equiplex. This is a must attend for the serious and not so serious fly fisherman or fisherwoman. Lots of learning can be done at this event.
Definatly plan to attend if you can.
The WCFFE is an event that attracts some of the best manufacturers of fly fishing gear in the world. Manufacturers such as Hardy and Greys, G-Loomis, Temple Fork Outfitters, Halo Reels, Islander, Howard Hackle, Wright and McGill Co. and Superfly among many others exhibitors have been part of the show in the past. I am sure this year and the following years will be no different, plan on attending this great show!
Last year I visited the exhibition on Friday Jan 22 2010. I always enjoy the show because there are always things that I can learn from the people there, people such as Jim McLennan, Phil Rowley, Michael T Williams and Chris Seipio. The paid workshops that these individuals host are great sources of information on many topics and they can teach something to even the most seasoned of fly fishermen.
There are many free presentations at the WCFFE that provide superb information on a number of topics from casting and tying to how to seminars on how to fish specific fly patterns. I believe it doesn’t matter how good a fisherman you are there is something that you can learn from the caliber of fishing professionals at the WCFFE.
There were a number of vendors as well as manufacturers representatives in attendance.
Superfly, G Loomis, Hardy, and Wright and McGill were some of the more prominent booths.
As always it was very informative, I saw some great new equipment and met some enthusiasts that I have not met before.
Next year the Western Canadian Fly Fishing Exposition should be held around the same time. Next year plan on attending if you are in the area, you just might learn something or meet some new friends.
